My Best Friend the Rhino is a podcast. It’s a podcast for ordinary people with extraordinary ears. MBFTR is an attempt to clear up misunderstandings of the Catholic faith for the rest of the world. Our co-hosts Declan and Justin are both at different stages in their lives. Declan is part of the laity (Catholic word for “regular dude”) and has chosen the vocation (Catholic word for “he didn’t have a choice”) of marriage, and Justin is currently figuring out his vocation
and entered into the seminary (Catholic word for “Priest school”) and still trying to figure out his vocation.
Having dabbled in many creative fields such as filmmaking and blogging, Declan is venturing out into a new medium – podcasting. Currently living in Pittsburgh with his one wife, one baby, and two cats, Declan spends most of his time writing, exercising, watching Netflix and occasionally working full-time. He is well-known for a blog he started with his wife during college called Cooking in College, and you can currently find him at his new neck of the interwebs: A Millennial Type.
Dubbed as a beat boxing prodigy at the age of seven, Justin’s life took a drastic turn at the age of thirteen when he hit puberty. No longer able to bust a beat, Justin decided to take an alternate route and go to college instead. It was here that Justin began to explore his faith more and lead popular Bible studies such as “23 Stories About Jesus That Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity” and “I Opened my Bible to Page 666, You Won’t Believe What Happened Next.” Knapsack in hand, Justin graduated college and began working for FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). He currently resides
with the seminarians of St. Paul’s Seminary with his parents in Pittsburgh, PA.
